Video: Juneteeth And The Evolution Of Emancipation Park

Follow the transformation of the park from the 1800s to today.

After more than $30 million in renovations, Emancipation Park is holding a re-dedication ceremony Juneteenth weekend.

The ceremony happens at 11am during a day-long festival on Saturday, June 17 celebrating the re-opening of the park.

In the video above, we take a quick look the significance of Juneteenth and the evolution of Emancipation Park.

It all began when the original 10 acres of land was purchased by former slaves for $800 in 1872.
