Houston is among the top 10 U.S. hiring cities for new grads.

LinkedIn looked at thousands of profiles of members that graduated between 2015 and this year. The study finds that Houston is among the top cities hiring recent grads.

Kylan Nieh, senior product manager at LinkedIn, said they looked at which employers new graduates listed.

"What we found specifically within Houston was the top industry hiring recent grads are oil and energy, hospital and healthcare, and IT and services," he said.

The top employers for graduates were the University of Houston, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Deloitte, Alliantgroup and PwC.

Jamie Belinne, assistant dean at UH's Bauer College of Business, said it's interesting that no oil and gas companies are among the top five employers.

"And I think that's really a sign that the energy industry is just huge in Houston still but the amount of hiring going on with any individual company has decreased significantly over previous years," she said.

From what she's seen, Belinne doubts that UH is the largest employer for recent grads.

She said it might seem that way because many students have part-time jobs with the university during their studies – which is reflected on their LinkedIn profiles.
