Police Asks for Community’s Help Finding Suspect Vehicle in Fatal Shooting Of Deputy

The Baytown Police Department said it has identified what is believed to be the suspect vehicle as investigators continue to search for the person who fatally shot a Harris County deputy on Monday.

Baytown Police Lieutenant Steve Dorris gives the latest update on the investigation into the slaying of Harris County Precinct 3 Assistant Chief Deputy Clinton Greenwood in front of the Baytown Police Department Headquarters on Friday afternoon.

Baytown police investigating the slaying of Harris County Precinct 3 Assistant Chief Deputy Clinton Greenwood are asking anyone with a video surveillance system in Southeast Harris County to hold onto the recordings and notify them so a detective can review it.

Police are interested in recordings taken between 6 a.m. Thursday, March 30th to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 5th.

The goal is to develop more information on the suspect and the vehicle, which has now been identified as a black, 2013-2017 Nissan Versa Note

"The fact that so many people have video systems, is just quite frankly a force multiplier for us," said Baytown police Lieutenant Steve Dorris on Friday afternoon. "That gives us thousands and thousands of eyes out there versus the number of detectives I have actually working the case."

Anyone with video can send an email to Baytown police at the following email address: video@baytown.org. They are asking that the public not send in copies of the video, just an email letting investigators know that they have it.

The Baytown Police Department said it has identified what is believed to be the suspect vehicle as investigators continue to search for the person who fatally shot a Harris County deputy on Monday.

Investigators released a video clip featuring the suspect vehicle on Monday evening.

"With a high degree of confidence, [we] believe the vehicle to be a black, 2013-2017 Nissan Versa Note,” Baytown police said in a news release Thursday.

Baytown police released a brief suspect description and video on Tuesday.

"We are also currently looking for a white or Hispanic male, approximately 6'0 to 6'3 tall, short hair and medium to stocky build. This person was possibly wearing a dark jacket with some type of patch on the sleeve and was seen in the area around the time of the shooting," Baytown police said.

Greenwood, 57, was a 30-year law enforcement veteran and seasoned trial attorney who graduated from Rice University. He served two stints at the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

More than 3,000 people attended Greenwood's funeral held Wednesday at Houston's Second Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife and four children.
