Cleaning Up Is Underway In Houston Region After Wednesday’s Severe Weather

It impacted several parts of our region, including as many as four tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.

Cleaning up and damage assessment are underway in the Houston region after Wednesday’s severe weather, which included a tornado that hit the southwest part of town.

Michelle Maynor vacuumed her Pearland home Thursday morning after a day she won’t forget easily because it flooded.

Her husband David Lauritsen says they will have to replace the sheetrock and the water also damaged some of their furniture.

“I think we got almost like three inches of rain total in an hour, but a good chunk of that fell on a real short amount of time,” Lauritsen told Houston Public Media.

The severe weather impacted several parts of our region, including as many as four tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.

One of them hit an apartment complex in southwest Houston, damaging roofs and carports.

Containers along the Ship Channel were also blown over and the roofs of a couple of transportation companies based in Pasadena sustained damage.

The weather forecast indicates the Houston area might experience more severe weather this weekend.
