Recently, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced a new program for misdemeanor cases involving the possession of marijuana. This is a diversion program that allows those charged with possession of 4 ounces or less of marijuana to take a 4-hour class on "decision making" for $150.00. Upon completion, the misdemeanor charges will be dropped.

Ogg cites the high cost of such minor prosecutions as a reason for the new diversion program.
