Hillary Hart has been named Executive Director for Theatre Under the Stars.

Hillary Hart's career in theater management has taken her across the country, but she fell in love with the arts while growing up in North Texas. Now, she's coming back to her home state to lead Houston's musical theater company, Theatre Under the Stars. "It's a wonderful, burgeoning market," Hart says. "Certainly one that has very recently made a recommitment to the arts as a value to the community."

Hart has been the General Manager of the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis for the past couple of years. When she served as Managing Director of the Flat Rock Playhouse near Asheville, North Carolina, TUTS says she helped create an operating surplus of more than $200,000. Before that, she spent seven years as General Manager of Dallas Theater Center. Hart says all that experience has primed her for her new position. "Having that kind of capacity to work strategically," she says. "And also be able to dig down into the details and fine tune operations (and) setting up best practices."

Hart will work alongside Sheldon Epps, who was named TUTS' Artistic Advisor earlier this year. She's set to start in early January.
