Part of the 610 Ship Channel Bridge will be closed this weekend.

TxDOT is closing the southbound lanes for repairs at 9:00 on Friday. They're set to reopen by 5:00 a.m. Monday.

TxDOT's Danny Perez says if you're traveling in the area, you should plan your route carefully.

"You're going southbound on 610, say, coming from the north side of town, trying to get to the Gulfgate area or points south of 45, it's probably best to find an alternate route. Use downtown routes for instance, go to 59, 45."

There's also construction on State Highway 288 this weekend. Drivers are being advised of lane closures on northbound 288 near Southmore.
