Political Perspectives: City Of Houston Finances

Hosts/Commentators, Jay Aiyer and Brandon Rottinghaus discuss the state of the city’s finances and budget concerns.

In his January inaugural address, Mayor Sylvester Turner stated that he would issue an order to streamline city spending as part of a larger plan to fix our city’s budget issues. A budget crisis that some say is a direct result of an increase in employee pension costs and a voter imposed cap on city property tax collections. In this episode, we discuss the state of the city’s finances and budget concerns.
