About 40Â minutes southwest of downtown Houston is the George Ranch Historical Park.

The park tells the story of the four-generation legacy of the Jones, Ryon, Davis and George families – beginning in 1824 and ending in the mid-1900s – using their preserved homesteads. These families were incredibly influential in the Richmond/Rosenberg area, and many streets and buildings in those parts bear some of the family names.

The houses on the 23,000-acre ranch are in a one-mile loop along with a working ranch and plenty of animals.

We take you on a virtual tour of some of the properties through this audio postcard, produced by Edel Howlin.
