The University of Houston Alumni Association has now started a petition, urging the Texas Legislature and governor to halt the expansion of the University of Texas in Houston.

The plans show a 300-acre "intellectual hub" facility, or a sprawling campus with lots of green space.

The alumni association cites concerns of "duplication of services," lack of "geographic balance," transparency, and also UT's "disproportionate share of state resources." The petition mirrors the statement approved by the University of Houston Board of Regents.
