Three people were injured early Monday after a fire broke out at one of the units in the Marathon Petroleum Galveston Bay refinery in Texas City, according to spokesman Jamal T. Kheiry.
He said the fire was reported at about 2:45 a.m. in a unit that was down for planned maintenance.
The three people who were injured were contract employees, Kheiry said. One was transferred via helicopter to a burn center in Galveston and the other two were treated on-site for minor injuries and then released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
