Back in September, Rice University’s Veterans in Business Association and the Baker Institute hosted an event titled The Vietnam War: 50 Years On. They invited four Vietnam veterans who are also authors to come speak and read excerpts from their books.

On this Veterans Day, we wanted to bring you some of their thoughts and excerpts to give you a flavor of that evening.

The following piece includes three of those authors and they are in order of appearance Tobias Wolff and his novel In Pharaoh’s Army: Memories of the Lost War, Tim O’ Brien reading from his book The Things They Carried and Philip Caputo reading from A Rumor of War.
