Sylvester Turner HeadshotOver the last several Tuesdays, we’ve offered you a chance to speak directly with the major candidates running to be the next mayor of the City of Houston. We conclude today with State Rep. Sylvester Turner.

He grew up in northwest Houston in the Acres Homes community. He’s a graduate of the University of Houston and Harvard Law School. Turner has served in the Texas House since 1989, representing District 139 in Harris County, which covers territory in northwest Houston, from near the intersection of I-45 and FM 1960 in the north, to near where the Northwest Freeway (290) meets the 610 Loop to the south.

We discuss some of the issues facing Houston and what he thinks he would bring to the office.
