In their first loss of the series, Pearland fell 3-0 last night to Red Land. That puts them in the losers bracket, which means theyll play the Sweetwater Valley team from California tonight at 7. If they win, theyll play a rematch against Red Land in the U.S. Title Game on Saturday. And the winner will face the international bracket winner for the Little League World Series title on Sunday.
In an interview yesterday, Pearland West manager Andrew Solomon said hes glad to have a second chance.
I like double-elimination format because I think were a very good team, and I think its hard to beat us twice, Solomon said
Pearland West advanced to the World Series after winning the Southwest Regional Tournament earlier this month. Solomon said the players are focused on securing their spot in the championship game.
The good thing is that one nights not going to kill you, he said. Its not going to knock you out, and so thats what we told them. We told them to keep their heads up.
Its the second year in a row a Pearland team has made it to the series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
