Fans Line Up For Another Round Of Astrodome Seats

Fans today took home a piece of what was once called the 8th Wonder of the World. It was the latest Astrodome seat sale.

Tom and Tyler Tibideaux pick up their Astrdome relics.

Scott Trinkle came to NRG Park to pick up his Astrodome seats.

He says he can’t think of a bigger relic to have.

“No, not at all. I remember it as a child and sitting in those orange seats. I got me two pairs of orange and I can’t wait to get them home,” said Trinkle.

About 6100 seats were sold online for $200 dollars a pair in April.

Tyler Tibideaux and his father are originally from Louisiana. He says he’s thrilled to own a piece of a bygone era.

“We don’t know what the future for the Astrodome is going to be, but this is a relic of a time gone past. So whether or not they renovate the Astrodome, I think what we have here is something that we’ll never get again,” Tibideaux says.

The seats came with a certificate of authenticity.

Opened in 1965 as the world’s first domed stadium, the Astrodome was closed in 2009. Since then, debate over what to do with the facility has been ongoing.

The Houston Texans and Livestock Show and Rodeo have proposed demolishing it. Harris County Judge Ed Emmett would like to see it turned into an indoor park.
