Train Cars Fall Off Bridge Overpass Onto Old Katy Road

Investigators are trying to figure out what caused Thursday morning’s train derailment on Old Katy Road in northwest Houston.

Two train cars fell from a bridge over Old Katy Road Thursday and onto the roadway below after the train derailed north of Interstate 10 West, according to Texas Department of Transportation officials.

The wreck happened at about 8:45 a.m. in the 6800 block of Old Katy Road near Washington Avenue.

There were no injuries reported.

Drivers were advised to plan an alternate route as Old Katy Road between Interstate 10 West and 610 West was closed due to the train derailment.
