We have the latest on this week’s flooding in and around Houston on today’s Houston Matters. We lead off with representatives from Harris County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service. We learn what cleanup and recovery efforts are underway, and what more we can expect in terms of storms and potential additional flooding the rest of the week.

CURRENT ROAD CONDITIONS HOUSTON-AREA WEATHER

Also this hour: As the Houston-based Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance‘s annual expo gets underway at the George R. Brown Convention Center, we hear from three Houston female executives about the challenges and opportunities they see for women in business leadership — and advice they have to offer for other women who aspire to lead a company.

And: Local researchers recently unveiled their findings of a 2014 survey they conducted of homeless youth in Harris County. Youth Count 2.0 counted more than 600 young people ages 13 to 24 during October and November of last year. More than 400 of them completed surveys to give researchers a comprehensive picture of homeless youth in Harris County. We talk with a co-investigator of the project about the findings and their policy implications.

Plus: Laura Isensee presents the latest installment of her occasional series Inside the Classroom. And we continue our Family Business series — conversations with Houstonians who choose to follow in their parents’ footsteps by pursuing the same career. Houston Matters’ Maggie Martin talks with a father and his two sons, all of whom are in — or heading into — the field of medicine.
