The 2015
Offshore Technology Conference kicks off today at NRG Park. More than 90,000 oil and gas professionals from 130-plus countries will converge to learn about the industry's latest technology and equipment. Also high on the minds of OTC attendees: how the drop in oil prices is impacting the industry, and what the new
Subsea Systems Institute offshore research center may offer. The center funded through the RESTORE Act following the
2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill is designed to explore ways to reduce the risk of offshore accidents.
Today, we discuss the impact of low oil prices on the industry with Christopher Ross, Executive Professor of Finance at the University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business. And we learn more about the Subsea Systems Institute from Dr. Ramanan Krishnamoorti, Chief Energy Officer at the University of Houston, and acting Vice President/Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology Transfer.
