HISD: 13 Students, 1 Adult Transported After School Buses Crash In Northeast Houston

HISD police are investigating an accident involving two buses that were transporting elementary school students.

HOUSTON – Thirteen students and one adult were transferred to hospitals after a wreck involving two school buses in northeast Houston Monday afternoon, HISD spokeswoman Mariana Navarro said.

The accident, which involved students from Elmore Elementary School and Burrus Elementary School, happened just before 4 p.m. near Bonaire Street and Bacher Street.

Photos and video from KHOU 11 News showed two buses at the scene of the wreck, with one bus stopped in the intersection and the other bus in a grassy area along the side of the road.  

The students were transferred to the hospital as a precaution, Navarro said. 

There was no word on how the accident happened. 

HISD says the accident is under investigation and more information will be released later.
