Darius Monroe was an honor student who at 16, robbed a bank. Years later, he returned home to Houston to learn how his actions affected family, friends, and victims of the robbery. He’s made a film about it, called Evolution of A Criminal.

The film airs on the PBS series Independent Lens Monday, Jan. 12, at 9 p.m. on Houston Public Media, TV 8.

We revisit a conversation Houston Matters’ Michael Hagerty had with Monroe last November about the film and his journey.
