reater Houston is made up of communities large and small that have over time developed their own special identities. While, from one town to the next, there might be differences in culture, business, education and more, many of our communities reflect some trends common to the entire Greater Houston area — most notably dramatic population growth in recent years affecting our way of life.

As more people flock to the area, we find ourselves facing challenges relating to transportation and infrastructure, economic development, gentrification, culture and identity.

On this special edition of Houston Matters, we highlight some of the conversations we’ve had in recent months with leaders, residents and journalists about the communities they live in, serve and cover.

We hear from folks in The Woodlands, Sugar Land, Katy and Montrose about how their communities are changing.
