If you have some county or state business to take care of this week, you probably shouldn’t postpone it any longer.
Several Houston area counties, including Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, Chambers and Liberty County have made this Friday a holiday.
The same goes for state agencies, such as driver’s license offices. And federal agencies — such as district courts and social security offices — will also be closed.
That is because President Obama issued an executive order earlier this month declaring Dec. 26 a federal holiday. This also means most federal employees will have a four-day weekend this week.
As far as the city of Houston goes, everything is back to normal after Christmas Day.
Thursday’s regular garbage pickup will resume on Friday and for those neighborhoods that usually have Friday pickup, the trucks will come on Saturday instead.
