Last year, the Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation offered Houstonians an opportunity to purchase seats from the Astrodome. Matthew Murphy is one of the Houston residents who jumped at the chance to buy a pair of seats that were once housed in the iconic building. Murphy filmed his experience for what was originally meant to be a tribute video. Instead, he produced it into a short documentary, called The Last Seat At The Dome.
Houston Mattersâ Maggie Martin sat down with Murphy to talk about his film and his hopes for the Astrodomeâs future. He says his interest in the Dome goes back to his childhood.
Thereâll be a free screening of the film on Nov. 20 at Ecclesia at 7Â p.m. Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion featuring Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Preservation Houston.
