Abbott welcomes crowd of supporters

Democratic state Senator Wendy Davis spent Monday block walking in San Antonio, Austin and ended up in Southwest Houston.

Despite trailing in the race by double-digits in recent polls, she told supporters here in Houston that pundits have been wrong about her before. Davis hammered her opponent for being insensitive to women and children.

“The future of our children is at stake in this election. And therefore, the future of our workforce and our economy is at stake in this election. And my opponent and I could not be any more different on this particular issue,” said Davis.

Earlier in the day Greg Abbott was welcomed by a packed crowd at a Southwest Houston restaurant. He took issue with a comment Davis made.

“That one way in which they were going to engineer a victory was by ensuring that Wendy Davis gets the women vote. Look at the women in this room,” said Abbott.
He told supporters he needs every last vote to be the next governor, this despite predictions of an easy victory.
