Pharmaceutical services giant Quintiles has completed its acquisition of Houston-based Encore Health Resources. The terms of the purchase have not been disclosed.

Quintiles cracked the Fortune 500 list for the first time earlier this year. The Durham, North Carolina-based firm has traditionally focused on managing clinical drug trials. But it’s recently begun expanding into other areas of health care, such as electronic health records. That’s Encore’s specialty.

“Quintiles has an exciting complement of people to Encore’s,” says Dana Sellers, CEO of the entity now known as Encore, a Quintiles Company. “Quintiles has 950 physicians, 900 Ph.Ds., 600 biostatisticians. In the future, we hope to leverage that kind of capability to help us bring even greater insights about clinical data and how to improve outcomes back to our provider clients.”

Encore has 300 employees throughout North America.
