The high profile race in the run-off election is between David Dewhurst and Dan Patrick, who are competing for the Republican nomination for Lieutenant Governor.

But several other statewide races will be on the ballot as well, including nomination races for Texas Attorney General, Agriculture Commissioner and Railroad Commissioner.Harris County Voter Registrar Mike Sullivan says voter registrations need to be turned in today.

“Swing by a DPS office and register. But if you are there not to renew your license, just to register to vote, then you’ll be taken to the front of the line. Second, you can go by any of the Tax Assessor offices in the county, there are 17 of them.”

Or you can print out an application online and mail it. Sullivan says as long as it’s postmarked for today, your application will be processed in time. If you are already a registered voter, but have moved to a new area in the past 30 days, you can vote in your old precinct. But if it has been more than 30 days, you must register in your new precinct.

Early voting for the primary run-off is May 19-23 and election day is May 27.
