A lot has changed in the media landscape since Rod Rice left the Army to pursue a career in radio. From his first job in a small town in Pennsylvania, to his eventual longtime home here in Houston, our morning news anchor has been a talk show host, a disc jockey, and of course, a news reporter.
Heâs been here in Houston since 1991 and came to Houston Public Radio for the first time in 1998. Today is his last day on air â heâs unplugging his microphone. Before he goes, we cajoled him to join Houston Matters in the studio to talk about his career, and the changes heâs seen in the media landscape here in Houston and elsewhere.
