Tributes continue to pour in around the world in remembrance of Nelson Mandela, who died Thursday at the age of 95. Houstonians are, of course, among those Mandela touched in his life. On this edition of Houston Matters, we’ll share what some have to say about the man, and what he said about how he wanted to be remembered during a 1999 visit to Houston.

Then, we’ll explore the state of the arts in Houston with the President of the Houston Arts Alliance, and then welcome your questions for three members of the performing arts community here in Houston.

Also: from Krispy Kreme’s return to Galveston as a “destination on the rise” to accolades for the playing surface at Minute Maid Park, we explore The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly in Houston news this week, with our panel of Houstonian “non-experts.”

Plus: we visit a mom and pop bicycle shop in Houston, and we meet The Houston Facial Hair Club. Yes, that’s a real thing.
