A pair of Houston area McDonald’s restaurants in recent weeks have displayed signs encouraging customers to pull up their pants. It got us thinking: How do Houstonians feel about dress codes? We know some schools employ uniforms, some swanky restaurants may require jackets, many offices prefer business casual attire, but may dress down on Fridays. And most places are comfortable with the standby, “no shoes, no shirt, no service.”

But how do we, as Houstonians, feel about rules covering how we dress when we’re out in public? Are there limits? Are we more laid back about how we dress than other cities? Dallasites have a reputation for dressing up to go out; Houstonians don’t. Do we care as much how we look when we’re out in public?

On this edition of Houston Matters, we discuss dress codes in Houston – why we have them some places but not others, and what, if anything, it says about Houstonians’ attitudes towards dress.

Also…from fans visiting Houston Texans’ players homes uninvited to the dismantling of sports venues, we discuss “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” in Houston news this week.

And…we preview The Autumn Art & Texas Wine Festival in Old Town Spring.
