The job fair will feature 80 employers, ranging in size from small businesses to multinationals. The aim is to match returning veterans and military spouses with companies that are currently hiring.

Unemployment rates for younger and women veterans remain well above the civilian average. Alexa McVey is with the Veterans to Work Program at software company SAP, the lead sponsor for the event.

“The situation’s getting better but it’s still an issue that both this community and companies as a whole are monitoring, as everyone wants to do their part in making sure that, as veterans transition back into civilian life, that this is a non-issue, so to speak.”

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Westin Galleria and Westin Oaks Houston.

Interested job seekers can register for free online at hoh.greatjob.net. Walk-in job seekers are also welcome, though veterans must provide their military ID.
