TMK IPSCO To Move Headquarters To Houston

The North American division of a global pipe manufacturer says it will move its corporate headquarters from Downers Grove, Illinois to Houston.

TMK IPSCO already has a strong presence in the area, with manufacturing plants in Houston and Baytown.  The headquarters relocation will bring its Harris County workforce to over 500 employees. Vicki Avril is TMK IPSCO’s president and CEO.

“We sell pipe into the energy industry, and so a lot of the energy customers are in Houston or around Houston. We’ve built an R&D center down there, and we’ve centralized our sales force in Houston. So this is really kind of the last step.”

Management will initially operate out of the company’s Northwest Houston R & D center, but plans are already afoot to build a new corporate headquarters facility in the next two years.

The company will begin the transition from Illinois to Texas over the next several months. It’s expected to complete the move by the summer of 2013.
