Mary Ann Dolenzal with Tobacco Free Fort Bend says her group has been successful in getting smoking bans in other communities. But in Stafford it’s up to individual businesses as to whether people can smoke.
“We’ve had lots of people contacting us asking why Stafford still allows smoking. Most people today expect smoke-free workplaces and places to eat.”
Dolenzal says many Stafford businesses are smoke-free, but her group is hoping for a city ordinance that would protect workers and customers from second-hand smoke.
There is a public hearing on the issue Wednesday evening at 7:00 at the Stafford Civic Center.
