ERCOT Debuts Energy Saver Mobile App

The state's electric grid operator has released a smartphone app to provide real-time alerts when conservation is most critical this summer. Sufficient generation is anticipated to meet the summer demand, but ERCOT's Robbie Searcy says there may be times when usage outstrips supply.

“We’re already starting to look toward some high temperatures and high electric demand next week. It will notify you when ERCOT really needs you to conserve energy the most. Going into summer, we do think we’ll have enough electric generation, but there will be times this summer that we will be calling on people to help conserve.”

ERCOT will also get the word out about emergency energy conservation through Facebook and Twitter.
