The latest TexAutoFacts Report, published by InfoNation of Sugar Land, says Houston-area dealers sold nearly 25,000 cars, trucks and SUVs in February. That’s the strongest performance for the month of February since 2007.

“I would say our checkup got an A+, as far as health goes. It’s a fantastic time to be in the market.”

Wyatt Wainwright is president of the Houston Automobile Dealers Association.

“Consumer credit’s flowing. Inventories are rising. Of course the Honda and Toyota inventories have rebounded from last year’s disasters. And a lot of the pent-up demand — with vehicles’ average age soaring to over ten years on the road — people are visiting their Houston-area new car dealer, and they’re in the market to buy a new car.”

Over the previous twelve months, Houston-area dealers sold 267,000 vehicles, the highest twelve-month total since March 2009. February marks the fifth-straight month of year-to-year gains.
