Harris County DA Blasts Grand Jury Report

Harris County District Attorney Pat Lykos responded to a blistering report from the Harris County grand jury over their investigation of the Houston Police Department's DWI testing vehicles. Lykos questions the grand jury's intent in making public statements.

“This politically motivated investigation, I would submit to you is an outrage. It’s an abuse of power and a corruption of the criminal justice system. For months our office has been hounded and there’s been a torrent of Grand Jury leaks.”

The grand jury earlier had blasted the DA’s office for resistance and accused it of launching an investigation into the grand jurors — something Lykos denies.

The integrity of the DWI tests was called into question last year by a technician, but subsequently that equipment was found to be trustworthy. In its critical report, the grand jury says it found no evidence of a crime.
