More Weekend Traffic Delays On North Freeway

Expect more traffic headaches on I-45 The North Freeway starting tonight as TXDOT continues repair work that's been ongoing for the past two weekends.

Last weekend, TXDOT crews were working on the roadway’s northbound lanes near Little York.

Starting tonight they’ll get back to work on the other side of the freeway, the southbound lanes.

“They’re going to be doing bridge repair. The expansion joints are bad and need to be replaced.”

TXDOT’s Jennifer Solis says the repairs this weekend will cause the closure of several on an off ramps and most lanes on the southbound side of the freeway.

“We’re starting at the southbound entrance ramp from Gulf Bank, will be total closure. The southbound exit ramp to Parker will be total closure. Southbound from Little York to Parker, the two inside lanes, will be closed. The southbound entrance ramp from Gulf Bank and the southbound entrance ramp from little York will also be a total closure.”

TXDOT will close the intersections under the repairs and keep the traffic lights green along the feeder roads in that area to keep traffic flowing. TXDOT says crews will be at it again next weekend as well, but that will be the last closure related to the current bridge repairs. The freeway will be affected starting at 9 tonight and will re-open early Monday morning.
