North Forest Student Alleges Bullying, No Records Support Claim

The North Forest School District says it has no reports on file of bullying from the mother of a student charged with shooting another student at North Forest High School yesterday.

The mother of 18-year-old Warren Lewis had said her son was bullied and brought a gun to school for protection. Lewis has been charged with aggravated assault in the shooting of a 16-year-old freshman in a school hallway yesterday.

According to North Forest officials, “the student who was shot was apparently not the target of the alleged shooter.”

The victim is being treated at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

It is unclear how the alleged shooter got the gun into the school, past the metal detectors. The school will keep its metal detectors on until 10 a.m. and also require clear backpacks starting next Tuesday. The district also says it will purchase clear backpacks for all the students.
