The fans you’re hearing are University of Texas Longhorn fans cheering at a sports bar. Longhorn fans are used to their team playing in January in one of the NCAA’s bowl games. But by this time of the year Houston Texans fans have usually turned their attention to the Rockets — but not this year.

“The kick is up and it is good. The Texans have come from behind. They lead the Bengals.”

It’s been ten long seasons of heartache and disappointment, but Texans fans now have a playoff team to cheer for. If you want a ticket however don’t try the stadium ticket office.

“What playoff tickets are still available?”

“Playoffs are sold out.”

 “They are sold out?”

“Completely sold out. You can try ticket exchange.”

Texans fan Jeff Davis was at Reliant stadium but he wasn’t trying to get tickets.

“I would have loved to go to this game. I work offshore and I have to go to work today.”

Davis says he’ll still get to watch the game on TV at work. He says anything beats having to watch other teams make their way to the Superbowl, while Houston sits at home year-after-year.

“Oh, I figured they wouldn’t done this years ago. Starting a new team, it takes a while to build. But uh you know, they’re there and they’re going to keep going they look good.”

Kenneth Blackmon was also at the stadium. He was buying a new Texan’s Playoff t-shirt.

“Where are you going to wearthat shirt?”

“Everywhere I go.”

The game will be televised on NBC.  Those who can’t see it in person can watch at home, or perhaps at sports bars like Lucky’s Pub near downtown. Co-owner Travis Adair says game days are always exciting, but this one could be off the charts.

“You could magnify it by about five times for a playoff game right. But for a Texans playoff game, it’s the first one; it’s something the city and everybody has been striving for for so long, in anticipation, and waiting, and disappointment. It’s going to be ten to fifteen times more cause the hype. It’s just going to be unbelievable how excited everyone is going to be.”

Having just beaten the Bengals a few weeks ago, the Texans have a good shot at doing it again Saturday. And that would mean something even better than making the playoffs, winning a playoff game and making it to the second round the following week.
