Former County Commissioner Gets Probation

Former Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Jerry Eversole has been sentenced to three years probation for lying to FBI agents investigating corruption charges.

U.S. District Judge David Hittner handed down the sentence to the 68-year-old Eversole, who faced up to six months in prison.

Eversole’s co-defendant, local developer Michael Surface, was also given three years probation. Eversole had been accused of accepting bribes from Surface in exchange for lucrative county contracts.

Eversole never admitted to any wrongdoing involving his office as part of the plea deal.
