Early Voting Underway In Houston

Early voting is underway in Harris County for the 2011 election. It's estimated that only 13% of registered voters will cast ballots.

Houston Mayor Annise Parker began her Monday at an early voting location on West Gray.

“I am hoping that Houstonians come out and vote in these city government elections, school board elections. A low turnout is disheartening, and we have five open seats for this election, so that’s brand new folks to choose among.”

There are 37 early voting locations throughout the county, and residents can vote early until November 4th. The last day to vote is November 8th.
