Search Widens for Jail Inmate

Authorities expand the search for an inmate who escaped from jail in Huntsville. They're searching the Houston area for Trent De'Ray Archie, who overpowered an unarmed guard Tuesday. Pat Hernandez has more.

Trent De'Ray Tattoo29 yr old Trent De’Ray Archie was awaiting a new trial after his murder conviction was overturned when he escaped from jail.

Chief Deputy Butch Davis with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office says, he was being held in the jail on a drug possession charge and was being escorted to a booking area to call his mother when he overpowered the unarmed guard.

“We’re still following leads that are coming in. We have no new information at this time. We’re hoping that the right lead will come in, the news media has been great to keep the information out there, where we can receive information. Crime Stoppers here in Walker County is offering up to a thousand dollar reward for information for his apprehension.”

Davis says Archie is now facing a charge of felony escape and the woman accused of helping him leave jail was herself behind bars on a one million dollar bond.

Davis says they have a taped phone conversation between Archie and 27 yr old LaToya Marsha Wright in which the pair discussed plans for his escape. Archie is considered armed and dangerous.
