Officer Kevin Will was killed early Sunday morning by a suspected drunk driver on the North Loop.

The 38-year-old police veteran was investigating another accident when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Johoan Rodriguez, who has twice been deported and is here illegally.

Today’s funeral is set for 10 a.m. at Champion Forest Baptist Church on Stuebner Airline.

Houston police officer Bob Sampiere has helped plan the service.

“Champion Forest Baptist Church is very graciously letting us use their facility and they’ve just expanded their parking lot facility so there will be plenty of parking. All police honors are going to be rendered here at the church.”

Houston Mayor Annise Parker is expected to attend today’s service.

“We have got to get the message out about drinking and driving and all Houstonians I know will join me in offering our sympathies to the family of Kevin Will, to his wife Felicia.”

Officer Will also leaves behind two children and another unborn child. He’ll be buried during a private service after this morning’s funeral.
