Poe Wants Pakistan to Prove No Bin Laden Involvement

Houston-area Congressman Ted Poe says it's "unimaginable" Pakistan knew nothing about about Osama Bin Laden's whereabouts. Patrick Terpstra reports from Washington, where the Texas Republican is demanding answers.

Congressman Poe plans to introduce a bill forbidding the U.S. from sending any more money to Pakistan until it’s clear the nation did not know where Bin Laden was hiding.

“They have to prove it, aid stops until they prove it.”

Poe’s bill would require the State Department certify to Congress that Pakistan was not providing a sanctuary to the leader of al-Qaeda.

As for the difficulty of proving a negative, Poe says that’s not his problem.

“Pakistan is trying to play both sides, make a sanctuary for Osama Bin Laden and people of like mind. It’s long overdue for Pakistan to choose whose side they’re on.”

House Speaker and fellow Republican John Boehner says it’s too early to think about freezing aid to Pakistan.
