Third Ward Community Meeting

How to improve the communities of third ward is the question Mayor Annise Parker and Councilwoman Wanda Adams will be discussing at a community meeting tomorrow. Bill Stamps has a preview.

The meeting will take place at Loyal Missionary Baptist Church on North MacGregor Way. Mayor Parker and Councilwoman Wanda Adams, and Precinct 7 Constable May Walker will attend. Adams says one of the things she’ll address is the community’s relationship with the police department.

“We make sure that we have meet and greet events in the community with HPD. Also just making sure that trust factor of public trust is brought back to the constituents between HPD and the constituents of 3rd Ward.”

The community meeting will be moderated by Channel 13 news anchor Melanie Lawson. Adams says there’s not a specific program or script they’ll follow. Basically, they plan to touch on a number of issues the community is dealing with, such as the infrastructure.

“Recently dealing with old age infrastructure in the area, helping repair old pipes. And just recently we had several of the streets repaved and completed in the third ward area, because some of the streets were in such need of repair.

Those who attend will get a chance to say what’s on their mind.  The meeting starts at 2:30 and runs until 4:30.
