About 130-thousand delinquent tax notices have been sent out to remind people that if that haven’t paid up by the end of the month another 20-percent will added to the bill.

“And worse yet gets referred to our collection attorneys who will then be rather persistent in trying to get a hold of the taxpayer.”

Leo Vasquez says short of paying the full amount owed delinquent taxpayers should call the Harris County Tax Assessor-Collectors office.

“And ask to enter into a payment agreement, and as long as the taxpayer enters into a payment agreement by June 30th we can avoid sending it off to the collection attorneys”.

Taxes can be paid with credit cards or e-checks online at www.tax.co.harris.tx.us, or over the phone. VISA debit cards can also be used in Harris County.  Vasquez says you can always check the status of your account online.
