The WBEA Expo is an opportunity for women business owners to meet and present their companies to some of Houston’s leading corporations.? One-on-one sessions match women-owned businesses with companies seeking products or services, including oil and gas firms, the Port of Houston, METRO and state agencies, as the WBEA’s Susan Repka explains.
“They are 15-minute one-on-one interviews that we schedule with buyers and WBEs based on the needs of those corporations.? So we have a program where the corporates come in and say ‘this is what needs to be in your presentation.? Then we have an educational event the day before Expo, where women business owners can ask other women business owners questions so that they can be better prepared.”
The Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance covers 94 counties in Texas, providing qualified suppliers to corporate and government purchasers.
“This is just one of the many networking events that we have during the year.? We also have educational programs.? A lot of women will start their business because they’re really good or passionate about something.? And we kind of help them build on their business side of it—the financial, the marketing–so that they can go out and do what they love, and we’re going to help them kind of get that business set up and have it on a stable platform.”
Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance Expo 2010 gets underway with a reception on Wednesday.? The actual event is set for Thursday at Reliant Center.
