KUHF Conversations: Census Day

Today is Census Day — the day the government urges everyone to mail in their Census forms, to help out with the every-ten-year head count mandated by the Constitution.

So far, about 54% of the nation’s households have returned their Census forms by mail. But Texas is lagging behind — at 46%, and Houston is even further behind at 40%.

KUHF’s David Pitman reached deputy U.S. Census Director Thomas Mesenbourg, and asked him why the mailback rate for the Census forms is so low.
