For the second time since February, a METRO bus and light rail train collided this afternoon in downtown Houston. The accident happened around 2pm at the intersection of Main Street and St. Joseph Parkway, which is the same spot as the February 8th collision. Metro spokesperson Raquel Roberts says that the agency plans to focus attention on this intersection.

“We’re going to be obviously looking at the tapes of what happened here. We’re going to be looking at the signal timing of this intersection, and we’ll be looking for proactive measures that we can take to get this under control. This is very rare for us, we’ve had two, but that’s is very unusual, so we’re going to be taking a look at the specifics of this intersection.”

METRO does not know at this time whether the bus hit the train or the other way around. Eighteen people were taken to area hospitals, all with minor injuries.
