White Faces Perry in November

Former Houston Mayor Bill White beat six other candidates in the Democratic Primary last night. He will now face the winner of the GOP race, incumbent Governor Rick Perry. Pat Hernandez has more.

Bill White for GovernorBill White won handedly over his more serious threat…hair care magnate Farouk Shami and five other challengers. He told supporters that voters sent a clear signal that Texas is ready for a new governor.

“Texans deserve a new governor, who’s more interested in the future of Texans than his own political future. Texans deserve a new governor, who’s more interested in the jobs of Texans than in preserving his own job. Texans deserve a new governor, who will work harder to keep kids in school, than he will just to keep running for office every single election.”

Pundits believed White, fresh from 3-successful terms as Houston mayor, was far and away the most qualified candidate to represent the Democratic party. White says its time to unite.

“We invite those who supported other candidates, including independents and republican voters, to join a winning team. On this team, all are welcome.”

White told supporters its time to renew the commitment and finish the job in November.
