Mrs. Bush was discharged this morning shortly before 9:00.

Jim McGrath is a Bush family spokesman.

“She went home with President Bush and she’ll continue her recovery there. The recovery process is not over.”

Her surgeon Dr Alan Lawrie says Mrs. Bush will have to restrict her activities for at least another three weeks.

McGrath says so far her recovery is on track.

“Right after the surgery they told us it would be 7-10 days, she got out in nine.”

But McGrath says there was no rush to release Mrs. Bush.

“Obviously with a high profile patient, they don’t want to take any unnecessary chances, but they fell comfortable enough with her and her recovery, the progress she’s made, to let her go home and she’s very happy about that.”

In a written statement she said no one has had better treatment that she has and she thanked everyone at Methodist and all those who offered good wishes and prayers over the last week and half.

Mrs. Bush had her aortic valve replaced on March 4th.
